I've slept in my car there~ate off other diner's plates~packed slopes in exchange for lift tickets~downed Elk brats, trout dip~discovered Yak meat~and followed Hunter S. Thompson's tracks
I really enjoyed your memories of Aspen from days past, which reminded me of my first trip there in the 80s. (I love that you slept in your car!) Your recent trip sounds like a lot of fun, too, and it was a special treat to read about all of your great meals.Pappardelle with braised lamb ragù and elk bratwurst? Yes, please!
Nice work, Christy. Haven’t been in Aspen in years. You clearly make me wanna go back. The photos are awesome. The food sounds ridiculously good. Love the read. Have a great weekend.

My only regret is that I didn’t try elk or yak bacon….

You are too kind!
I like this piece a lot, thanks for all the visuals and details!
You are kind to say that!
Beautiful pictures and memories! Thanks for the travelog. 😉
You are so welcome! Those memories and the ones with you there were the best of all!
Delightful. I feel transported to the mountains!
Thank you so much!
This Colorado place sounds magical! And delicious! And mountainous! I’m gonna look right out my window now and admire it.
You're one lucky mountain man!
Great post! I spent a few weeks in Carbondale in the late 70's. Aspen was a wild and crazy place back in those days!
You are very kind to say!
I have fond memories of my stay that came flooding back reading your post!
